Artefacts
Through making hand built ceramic objects, I create what I call memory artefacts. These architecturally informed ceramics straddle the line between resembling architectural models and being the aesthetic embodiment of an idea. Sometimes they serve as an echo of place, sometimes they are imbued with the specificity of drawing through the process of sgraffito.
Making ceramics is a work of memory and a reflection on the human desire for permanence.
